Kev’s Patch is a campaign aiming to get an organic vegie patch started at The Lodge, the Canberra residence of the Australian Prime Minister, Kevin Rudd.

Vegie patches are great for the environment and for our health. We reckon everyone with a bit of land should have one, or at least a few pots of herbs on a sunny window-sill. The Prime Minister has a great big lawn, which gives him plenty of room for lots of delicious, healthy, eco-friendly fruit and veg – so why not put one in?

We were inspired by the Eat The View campaign in the USA which succeeded in getting President Obama to put in an organic food garden on the grounds of the White House. We think it can work equally well here in Australia, and we want everyone to let PM Rudd know that they’d love to see it happen.

We also hope that more people will realise how good fresh-grown vegies can be, and will be inspired by this campaign to plant a vegie patch for themselves.
